Hansen, Allen & Luce (HAL) participated in the fifth annual Maps on the Hill event March 1 at the Utah State Capitol. Held in the Capitol Rotunda, the event featured dozens of digital and poster maps from the local mapping community on a variety of topics.
HAL exhibited two maps on water use, one showing water use in the United States and another showing spatiotemporal patterns of water use in Salt Lake City. Both maps were created with public datasets. HAL discussed these and other water issues with the public, city employees, legislators, and state officials from the Division of Water Resources, Division of Water Quality, Governor’s Office of Management and Budget, Department of Technology Services, and Natural Resources Conservation Service.
The Utah Geographic Information Council sponsored the event.
Active in the geospatial community, HAL relies on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to support water and environmental projects throughout Utah and the Intermountain West.
