SENIOR WATER/ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER

Hansen, Allen & Luce (HAL) is seeking a full-time Senior Water/Environmental Engineer with 7-20 years of experience in water systems and design.

Applicant will be responsible for managing and designing water system infrastructure projects and may include design assistance in pump stations, well houses, pipelines, and drinking water storage facilities.

The successful candidate must be able to work independently and productively in a collaborative setting to aid in team building through mentorship while displaying a high level of organization and communication skills.

EDUCATION:

The candidate must have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Work efficiently as a team member while applying engineering principles to improve the public’s standard of living through municipal projects.
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate with clients and/or regulating agencies.
  • Study, plan, and design municipal projects utilizing computer programs including AutoCAD, Civil 3D and ArcGIS.
  • Experience with hydraulic models such as AutoCAD Storm and Sanitary Analysis, SWMM, EPANET, and related programs.
  • Analyze and interpret engineering data and prepare design calculations.
  • Prepare specifications and assist with bid documents for construction of municipal projects.
  • Demonstrate excellent technical and verbal communication.

LICENSURE:

Candidate must have a Utah Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain one.

STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

Hansen, Allen & Luce (HAL) is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer with a minimum of 7 years of related project experience.

Qualified applicants will have prior experience in the design of pump stations, drinking water storage tanks, buried vaults, drainage structures, retaining walls, foundations, walls, roofs, and various connections. Additionally, the new HAL team member will prepare structural calculations, review contractor submittals, and perform field inspections of structural elements.

The successful candidate must be able to work independently and productively in a collaborative setting to aid in team building through mentorship while displaying a high level of organization and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Create structural designs and calculations
  • Assist engineers and drafters in the preparation of structural drawings, notes, and specifications.
  • Interact with clients and government officials representing HAL.
  • Help prepare and track schedules and budgets.

Requirements:

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Structural Engineer

ELECTRICAL PROJECT ENGINEER

The Electrical Project Engineer will work on various electrical design projects, leading design tasks and working with Project Managers. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall electrical design of projects, including water distribution and pump stations, wastewater collection and lift stations, municipal systems, backup power generation, lighting, instrumentation/controls, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA).

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional electrical engineering services for projects including planning, design, cost estimating, bidding, and construction administration
  • Coordinate with local power utility companies for new/upgrades of electrical service
  • Perform electrical system analysis and calculations
  • Design of electrical power, control, and lighting systems from service to load
  • Preparation of technical drawings and specifications for service layout, conduit coordination, grounding, and lightning protection
  • Provide quality control and quality assurance on all project work
  • Maintain budgets and schedules of project assignments
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and attend internal and external meetings

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • 5 years minimum (7+ years preferred) of increasingly responsible electrical engineering experience in water and/or wastewater facility design
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and control systems
  • Working knowledge of building codes, NEC, and applicable electrical codes
  • Project management experience
  • Revit experience is a plus

ENVIRONMENTAL GEOLOGIST

Hansen, Allen & Luce (HAL) is seeking an experienced Environmental Geologist for employment within our Environmental Services Division to support soil and groundwater investigations, remediation, and solid waste projects.

Qualified applicants will have prior experience in environmental field data collection including drilling, soil logging, well installation, and soil, groundwater and vapor sample collection.  Experience in data management and technical report production with strong verbal and written communication skills is required.

The successful candidate must be able to work independently and productively in a collaborative team setting to aid in team building through mentorship while displaying a high level of organization and communication skills.  The candidate needs to have a strong desire to learn from project managers.  This position holds significant growth potential.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Oversight of environmental investigation and remediation projects for municipal and private clients in the solid waste industry.
  • Oversee well installation and sampling tasks.
  • Aid in project budgeting, scope development, and schedule tracking.
  • Experience with evaluation, data management, and writing of environmental investigation reports.

Requirements:

  • Qualified applicants must have completed a bachelor’s degree in Geology and a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Licensed Professional Geologist preferred, ability to obtain licensure required.

CONSTRUCTION OBSERVATION / FIELD TECHNICIAN

Hansen, Allen & Luce (HAL) has a full-time position open for an individual interested in Construction Observation and Field Services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with both in-office and field services. Sample tasks may include data research, data collection, stream measurements, water quality sampling, well monitoring, construction observation, project documentation, etc.

Qualified applicants must be able to work well on their own, take direction from and communicate well with in-house supervisors and clients, be proficient and accurately document assignments, and be actively engaged.  Experience with AutoCAD and ArcGIS is also preferred and desired.

Salary will be negotiated depending upon years of experience and overall qualifications.

CAD TECHNICIAN/DESIGNER

Hansen, Allen & Luce (HAL) is seeking Civil Engineering CAD Technicians/Designers responsible for assisting engineers and project managers to prepare and complete project designs. They are responsible for the accurate development and presentation of project layouts and details, including the reduction of survey data and preparation of base mapping. They may be asked to assist with field services including data collection, construction observation, or other field needs.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  • Coordinates with Engineering Project Managers
  • Understands and can efficiently and effectively use AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Either has experience with or is willing to develop expertise and efficiency with ArcGIS
  • Interested in providing engineering design services for civil layouts, pipelines, pump stations, vault stations, and related facilities
  • Helps promote the firm by maintaining a professional appearance and attitude
  • Checks own work and participate in quality assurance reviews and the work of others
  • Assists with the collection of field data including water quality sampling, environmental monitoring, etc., and provides construction observation services as our on-site representative as needed
