Civil Engineering magazine highlights new Utah water conservation goals

The March 2020 issue of ASCE’s Civil Engineering magazine (pp. 28–30) highlights Utah’s new regional goals for municipal and industrial water conservation.

The goals, finalized in November 2019, supersede the previous statewide goal of “25% by 2025” and consider water use practices and opportunities relevant to different parts of the state. Actions recommended to achieve the new goals include water conservation education, conservation pricing, fixture conversion, improved irrigation efficiency, more water-wise landscaping, and associated policies at local and state levels.

Hansen, Allen & Luce and Bowen Collins & Associates were the consulting team for this historic project which the article calls “an ambitious, data-driven blueprint” to reduce water use in Utah.
