Balancing water supply, water demand, and community growth

Balancing water supply, water demand, and community growth

Securing water can be a challenge for growing communities. The challenge is especially pronounced in the West, where growth is fast and and natural systems like Great Salt Lake and the Colorado River are already stressed.

Hansen, Allen & Luce CEO Steve Jones spoke to ABC News earlier this year on how to help communities have enough water.

“We either stop growth, or we figure out how to use less water per capita, or we figure out how to bring more water in from a distance,” he said in the interview.

HAL is helping Utah plan responsible water supplies, manage environmental risks, and restore Great Salt Lake. The dynamic balancing act among municipal, agricultural, industrial, and environmental sectors is when and where to use limited water resources—a balancing act that is more sensitive now than ever.
