Professional Geologist

Kate Herbert joined the HAL team as a Geologist in 2022 and brings over seven years of experience in environmental and regulatory projects. Kate’s technical expertise encompasses solid and hazardous waste air quality permitting and compliance, contamination characterization, regulatory oversight, drinking water well siting, drilling, and construction, hydrogeologic evaluations, groundwater modeling, multimedia sampling, and soil and water quality data analysis.
In her roles as a project manager and technical field lead, Kate has provided management and oversight for a wide range of permitting, well drilling, development, and rehabilitation projects, as well as numerous solid waste construction initiatives. She has managed field activities across geotechnical, environmental, solid waste and water resource projects, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with applicable regulations.
Kate earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Geoscience with an emphasis in Hydrology from the University of Utah in 2019. In 2026 she was promoted to Environmental Services Director at HAL, recognizing her leadership, technical expertise, and commitment to excellence.
