Utah water conservation goals open for public comment

Utah water conservation goals open for public comment

The Utah Division of Water Resources is seeking public comment through Sept. 25 on new municipal and industrial water conservation goals for certain regions of Utah.

The new goals supersede the previous statewide goal of “25% by 2025” and consider water use practices and opportunities relevant to different parts of the state.

“We’ve made significant progress thanks to the waterwise efforts of many Utahns and water managers,” the Division’s assistant director Candice Hasenyager said in a press release. “There is still more to be done, and these new regional goals are the next step. Accomplishing these goals will require everyone’s participation, including water managers, elected officials, state and local leaders, and the public.”
