Provo River Diversion Rehabilitation chosen as a Project of the Year

The Provo River Diversion Rehabilitation, which Hansen, Allen & Luce (HAL) has been designing for Provo City the past couple years, was selected by the Associated General Contractors of Utah as the 2022 Utility Project of the Year in the $500,000–$5,000,000 category.

The award was presented at the association’s annual convention, held Jan. 19 and 20 in Salt Lake City. Aaron Spencer, P.E., received the award on behalf of HAL.

“The project addresses multiple structural and functional issues in the existing diversion, and it upgrades the intake to meet the requirements of a planned water treatment facility,” said Spencer. “It adds automated controls for gates, fish screens for the intake with automated brush, and a fish ladder to restore the natural migration of fish in the Provo River.”

The project was completed with assistance from the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.
