Hansen, Allen & Luce (HAL) has welcomed several employees this year, pictures left to right.

Abby Trudeau is a project engineer at HAL. She is a recent graduate from the University of Utah, earning a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering. During her coursework, Abby worked in the University’s E-SURe Laboratory, where she collected and prepared soil samples for testing, ensured accuracy and consistency, and supported advanced research. As an intern, Abby used Civil 3D for roadway design, grading, and drainage on commercial and residential projects. She also designed stormwater management systems, including catch basin placement and hydraulic modeling in StormCAD. Now a full-time project engineer at HAL, she supports hydrologic and hydraulic modeling projects. Abby enjoys trail running, biking, and camping.
Jarrad Larsen, P.E., joined HAL in August 2025. Jarrad brings substantial stormwater engineering expertise, including experience working as the Drainage Discipline Lead for a 23-site culvert replacement program in Washington State, where he was responsible for guiding a team of engineers and coordinating with the state transportation agency to ensure compliance with stringent water quality and quantity criteria. Jarrad has experience in open channel hydraulics, storm system design, and flood control, including hydrologic and hydraulic analyses. He is proficient in many drainage and modeling programs, such as SWMM, HEC-RAS, Autodesk SSA, StormCAD, InRoads Storm & Sanitary, and OpenRoads SUDA. In his free time, Jarrad enjoys playing disc golf, reading, and wrestling with his kids.
Jesco Helling joined HAL in June 2025 as a project engineer supporting hydraulic modeling projects for drinking water and irrigation systems. Jesco earned an M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Utah. He studied advanced fluid mechanics and thermodynamics, renewable energy systems, water treatment, and distribution systems. He earned his B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Florida State University. While at FSU, Jesco was a member of the swimming and diving team, where he served as a team captain and achieved multiple all-ACC honors. At the U, he was also part of the swimming and diving team and became the Utes’ first-ever BIG12 platform diving champion. In his spare time, Jesco likes to cook, hike, and play sports.
Joshua Thompson is a project engineer at HAL. He is a recent graduate from the University of Utah, earning a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering. During his coursework, he solved open channel problems and modeled a river system using HEC-RAS and hydraulics knowledge as part of a group project. Joshua also worked as a civil engineering tutor, guiding all grade levels in the University’s Tutoring Center. As an intern, he worked in drainage design. In June 2025, he joined HAL as a full-time project engineer. In his spare time, Joshua likes to mountain bike, play the piano, and spend time with friends.
Ryal Baldwin joined HAL in May 2025 to work with the environmental team and pursue his career goals in drafting. He brings his technical skills in AutoCAD Civil3D and he quickly went to work on several important projects. He also works on environmental compliance for the gas well operations of HAL’s landfill clients. Ryal obtained his A.A.S. degree in drafting technology from Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming. In his spare time, Ryal enjoys hiking, adventuring, watching movies, and being involved in his church community.
Additionally, HAL welcomed Cole Gwilliam, Emily Wessman, Jackson Hammond, and Kai Francom (not pictured) as student interns.
