Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District (JVWCD), a major water supplier in the Salt Lake City area, launched an energy management program in late 2014 with the help of Hansen, Allen & Luce (HAL), Cascade Energy, and Rocky Mountain Power. The program has been immensely successful, reducing JVWCD’s energy use by 19% to date and saving nearly $500,000 annually.
HAL and JVWCD prepared a feature article (“Jordan Valley Water Redefines Sustainable Water Supply Through Energy Management”) for the October 2017 issue of Journal – American Water Works Association that describes the program in detail, including the technical and organizational solutions leading to the energy savings.
