Hansen, Allen & Luce has an immediate opening for an engineer with 2–8 years of experience who desires to work with a local leader in water resources engineering.

Projects for our municipal and private clients often include hydrology and hydraulic modeling, master planning and studies, design of pipelines, pump stations, pump and valve vaults, water storage reservoirs, groundwater wells, well houses, stream channel flow control structures, and various other water and general civil projects.

Experience with ArcGIS and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred as well as experience with hydrology and hydraulic models such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, AutoCAD Storm and Sanitary Analysis, SWMM, EPANET, and related programs.

The candidate must have excellent organizational skills, be able to take direction, and communicate well with others.


The candidate must have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering.


Coordination with project managers, on-site investigations, numerical data analysis, computer modeling, master planning, reporting, and documentation.

Coordination with project managers, project evaluation, concept to final design, coordination with required field activities, preparation of design details including drawings and specifications.

Construction observation, field-to-office communications, project documentation and reporting, and office support services.


Candidate must have a Utah Professional Engineer license or be able to meet licensure requirements within two years.

Engineering firm Hansen, Allen & Luce (HAL) is seeking a part-time engineering student intern to work in our South Jordan, Utah, office. The intern will contribute to various water-related projects that may include:

  • Hydraulic analysis
  • Hydrologic analysis
  • Computer modeling
  • Data analysis
  • GIS and CAD
  • Research
  • Water infrastructure design
  • Construction observation
  • Report preparation

Qualified applicants must have completed their sophomore year in an accredited civil engineering program. An interest in water resources engineering is essential. Experience with AutoCAD and ArcGIS is highly desirable. Strong writing skills are preferred. Work schedule is flexible based on class schedule. Pay range is $13–$15 per hour depending on experience.

Civil Engineering CAD Technicians/Designers are responsible for assisting engineers and project managers to prepare and complete project designs. They are responsible for the accurate development and presentation of project layouts and details, including the reduction of survey data and preparation of base mapping. They may be asked to assist with field services including data collection, construction observation, or other field needs.


  • Coordinates with Engineering Project Managers
  • Understands and can efficiently and effectively use AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Either has experience with or is willing to develop expertise and efficiency with ArcGIS
  • Interested in providing engineering design services for civil layouts, pipelines, pump stations, vault stations, and related facilities
  • Helps promote the firm by maintaining a professional appearance and attitude
  • Checks own work and participates in quality assurance reviews and the work of others
  • Assists with the collection of field data including water quality sampling, environmental monitoring, etc., and provides construction observation services as our on-site representative as needed
