CIVIL/MUNICIPAL ENGINEER

 

Hansen, Allen & Luce (HAL) has an immediate opening for an engineer with 2+ years of experience who desires to work with a local leader in water resources engineering.

Projects for our Wasatch Front municipal clients often include design of pressure and gravity pipelines, site plans for water/wastewater facilities, water tanks, pump stations, valve vaults, water storage reservoirs, groundwater wells, stream channel flow control structures, and other various water and general civil projects. We also provide services related to master planning, water rights, and other studies.

Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is required as well as experience with ArcGIS and hydraulic models such as AutoCAD Storm and Sanitary Analysis, SWMM, EPANET, and related programs.

The candidate must have excellent organizational skills, be able to take direction, and communicate well with others.

EDUCATION:

The candidate must have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Work efficiently as a team member while applying engineering principles to improve the public’s standard of living through municipal projects.
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate with clients and/or regulating agencies.
  • Work independently on smaller projects.
  • Study, plan, and design important municipal projects utilizing computer programs including AutoCAD.
  • Analyze and interpret engineering data and prepare design calculations.
  • Prepare bid documents and specifications for construction of municipal projects.
  • Assist in construction management duties, including periodic observation of completed work and preparation of field observation notes.
  • Provide excellent technical and verbal communications.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and collaborate with a team of professionals.

LICENSURE:

Candidate must have a Utah Professional Engineer license or be able to meet licensure requirements within two years.

PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER — PUMPING SYSTEMS

 

Hansen, Allen & Luce (HAL) has an immediate opening for an engineer with 6+ years of pump station design and other municipal experience who desires to work with a local leader in water resources engineering.

Projects for our Wasatch Front municipal clients often include design of pump stations, well pumps, sewage lift stations, pressure and gravity pipelines, site plans for water/wastewater facilities, water tanks, valve vaults, water storage reservoirs, groundwater wells, stream channel flow control structures, and other various water and general civil projects. We also provide services related to master planning, water rights, and other studies.

Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred as well as experience with ArcGIS and hydraulic models such as EPANET, and related programs.

STUDENT INTERN

 

Engineering firm Hansen, Allen & Luce (HAL) is seeking a part-time engineering student intern to work in our South Jordan, Utah, office. The intern will contribute to various water-related projects that may include:

  • Hydraulic analysis
  • Hydrologic analysis
  • Computer modeling
  • Data analysis
  • GIS and CAD
  • Research
  • Water infrastructure design
  • Construction observation
  • Report preparation

Qualified applicants must be enrolled in an accredited civil engineering program. An interest in water resources engineering is essential. Experience with AutoCAD and ArcGIS is highly desirable. Strong writing skills are preferred. Work schedule is flexible based on class schedule. Pay range is $13–$15 per hour depending on experience.

CAD TECHNICIAN/DESIGNER

Civil Engineering CAD Technicians/Designers are responsible for assisting engineers and project managers to prepare and complete project designs. They are responsible for the accurate development and presentation of project layouts and details, including the reduction of survey data and preparation of base mapping. They may be asked to assist with field services including data collection, construction observation, or other field needs.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  • Coordinates with Engineering Project Managers
  • Understands and can efficiently and effectively use AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Either has experience with or is willing to develop expertise and efficiency with ArcGIS
  • Interested in providing engineering design services for civil layouts, pipelines, pump stations, vault stations, and related facilities
  • Helps promote the firm by maintaining a professional appearance and attitude
  • Checks own work and participates in quality assurance reviews and the work of others
  • Assists with the collection of field data including water quality sampling, environmental monitoring, etc., and provides construction observation services as our on-site representative as needed
