SURVEYOR

(Now Hiring)

Purpose of the Position:

HAL has an immediate opening for a surveying department head that can complete an array of in-office and field surveying tasks related to Civil Engineering.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Collection of survey data to complete topographic surveys
  • Gathering and evaluation of data for engineering design and construction
  • Coordination with staff and clients
  • Preparation of survey base mapping in AutoCAD
  • It is also the desire that the employee operate and evaluate Drone data to obtain both survey data as well as obtain other aerial images related to company projects

Education and Experience Required:

  • The applicant must have an associate’s degree and be a licensed Professional Land Surveyor in the State of Utah.

ENGINEER

Engineer candidates must desire to become heavily involved with engineering planning and design, working under the direction of professional engineers and project managers. Experience with ArcGIS and AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred. The candidate must have excellent organizational skills, be able to take direction, and communicate well with others.

Projects for municipal and private clients often include the modeling, planning, and design of pipelines, pump stations, pump and valve vaults, water storage reservoirs, groundwater wells, well houses, stream channel flow control structures, and various other water and civil projects.

EDUCATION:

The candidate must have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering.

SKILLS:

Studies
Coordination with project managers, on-site investigations, numerical data analysis, computer modeling, master planning, reporting, and documentation.

Design
Coordination with project managers, project evaluation, concept to final design, coordination with required field activities, preparation of design details including drawings and specifications.

Construction
Construction observation, field-to-office communications, project documentation and reporting, and office support services.

LICENSURE:

Candidate must have a Professional Engineer license or, for recent graduates, be able to meet licensure requirements within four years.

Other credentials are also considered.

CAD TECHNICIAN/DESIGNER

Civil Engineering CAD Technicians/Designers are responsible for assisting engineers and project managers to prepare and complete project designs. They are responsible for the accurate development and presentation of project layouts and details, including the reduction of survey data and preparation of base mapping. They may be asked to assist with field services including data collection, construction observation, or other field needs.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  • Coordinates with Engineering Project Managers
  • Understands and can efficiently and effectively use AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Either has experience with or is willing to develop expertise and efficiency with ArcGIS
  • Interested in providing engineering design services for civil layouts, pipelines, pump stations, vault stations, and related facilities
  • Helps promote the firm by maintaining a professional appearance and attitude
  • Checks own work and participates in quality assurance reviews and the work of others
  • Assists with the collection of field data including water quality sampling, environmental monitoring, etc., and provides construction observation services as our on-site representative as needed
